"The Concept of Wahdat al-Wujud in the Poetry of Khawaja Ghulam Fareed”
Dr. Shahzad Qaiser
After two decades of a distinguished career as a civil servant, including serving as Special Secretary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Dr. Shahzad returned to the academia to earn a PhD from Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan . His dissertation, The Metaphysics of Khawaja Ghulam Farid, a subject that has engaged him for years, won him the Allah Nawaz Tareen Gold Medal in 1994.
To his credit, Qaiser has five collections of Light Essays (Inshaiya) in Urdu.
An accomplished poet of Punjabi language he has excelled in the traditional literary genre of Kafi, publishing five volumes of Kafis; Asmana Dey Bohe Khol, Main Nayein Sub Tun, Gal Wich Payum Prit Mohar, Talawat-i-Wajud, Ishq Faqr de Sang, and a collection of poems Dooji Akh.
He has published numerous books; among them, Quest for the Eternal, Of Intellect and Reason, Metaphysics and Tradition, Dimensions of Khawaja Farid’s Metaphysics, The Metaphysics of Khawaja Ghulam Farid, Iqbal and Khawaja Ghulam Farid on Experiencing God, Beyond the Manifest and The Message of Khawaja Ghulam Farid (rendering Diwan-i-Farid into English prose).
