Dr. Asad Zaman is currently the Vice Chancellor at Pakistan
Institute of Development Economics. After a BS in Math from MIT, Boston
and a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University, he spent six years at the
Economics Department at University of Pennsylvania and at Columbia University. From 1991 to 1993 he
stayed at John Hopkins.
He returned to Pakistan in 1999 to LUMS – Lahore University of
Management Sciences. After about three years at LUMS, he accepted the offer to
head the International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE) from International
Islamic University in 2002.
