over two weekends (Friday, Saturday (5:30 pm onwards) & Sundays (2:00 pm
onwards) – introducing the philosophy & practice of the ‘Arts of the Book’
of the Islamic Tradition: CALLIGRAPHY, ILLUMINATION, GEOMETRIC PATTERNS,
MINIATURE/ILLUSTRATION & BOOK BINDING with Taimoor Khan Mumtaz, Waleed
Zaman, Fyza Fayyaz, Irfan Qureshi & Ustad Muhammad Moosa ; Opening lecture

Dr. Reuven Firestone lives & teaches in the United
States of America. He founded the Center for Muslim-Jewish Engagement (CMJE), a joint program of Hebrew Union College, the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Foundation and the Center for Religion and Civic Culture at the University of Southern California.
His academic field is religions and his Ph.D. is in Arabic and Islamic
studies. His Research Interests include Qur’an and its exegesis;
Religious Phenomenology; Comparative Religion; and Religious Dialogue.
